Aunali Khalfan, born in Madagascar and raised in Tanzania, East Africa began sign writing at the mere age of 13. In the 1960's he established the first sign company in Tanzania, Tanganyika Sign Writers. In 1969 he and his wife, Shirin Khalfan migrated to New York, USA in search of new opportunities. With Aunali's skill and Shirin's entrepreneurial spirit, they established Signs and Lucite Products in 1974. Their daughter, Azra Khalfan, took over the reigns in 1996 and has grown the business to new heights. Graduating from the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Business Program in affiliation with The Tory Burch Foundation, was a life changing experience for Azra and was the beginning of a new era for the company.
